Expanding Our Mission: Restoring Hope Through Women’s Health in El Salvador

Launching our first international breast reconstruction initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the National Women’s Hospital “Dra. María Isabel Rodríguez”

As part of our continued commitment to serving vulnerable populations around the world, Surgical Volunteers International is proud to launch a new Women’s Health Initiative in El Salvador in August 2026. While our organization has long focused on providing life-changing surgical care for children and young adults, this mission represents a natural expansion of our efforts—addressing a critical and often unmet need for women recovering from breast cancer.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the National Women’s Hospital “Dra. María Isabel Rodríguez” in San Salvador, our team will perform advanced microsurgical breast reconstruction procedures for patients who currently have little to no access to restorative surgical care. Equally important, we will work alongside local surgeons, nurses, and clinical teams to establish a sustainable program through training, education, and long-term partnership.

This mission reflects the heart of Surgical Volunteers International: delivering compassionate, life-restoring care to those in need, while building systems that continue to serve communities long after we leave.
